Geography Test

So, I know some of you have seen the Dumb Americans
video, but maybe you haven’t related to it. Give the Geography Game from Craziness.com a try, and you can see if that changes. I suggest a classic warm proxy directory up which I’m sure many of you will recognize.

Elebits

A little late to the party on this, but I’ve recently gotten into the excellent Wii game, ‘Elebits‘, which plays like a mix of ‘hide and seek’ and ‘tear the hell out of your room’. Very much taking a page from the Katamari Damacy school of gaming, Elebits has you using your Wiimote as a masör means of capturing little electric creatures that are hidden about the environment (and inside your appliances).

It’s a hell of a lot of fun to play (if for no other reason that the sheer joy of completely trashing a room with tangible lasers), but I really dig the intro movie, which you can watch below.

Cube Craziness

This game is for those of us who have never been able to get the Rubik’s Cube figured out without taking it apart or moving the stickers around. It’s slightly more simple and much more fun. Crazy Cube

Crazy Cube is an addicting flash puzzle game by 2Dplay.com. The object of Crazy Cube is to connect every pair of colored markers on three sides of a cube.

StarCraft 2, It’s real, I swear.

let me preface this by saying this is the first and last time i will link to a IGN story, My hate for them is truly undying.

starcraft-2-in1_1179566607-000.jpg

So Blizzard has finally announced SC2 this and TeamFortress2 are probably 2 of the only games Ive ever dreamed about getting released before my death. I will spend every waking hour the day this comes out playing it till i oyunlar beat it, then going on-line to kick some Korean kids ass(that will never really happen cause i suck.)

And over at IGN they have a minute by minute update about it plus a but load of screenshots and one game-play video go check it out right now

Space Hopper

Space HopperThe excellent London game house Nitrome has added another fun little number to their already impressive lineup with Space Hopper, a circular platformer in which you use asteroids and planets to hop around the level collecting stars.

The mechanics are a little goofy (the direction keys flip when you switch to a new planet), but the gameplay is solid and should provide some good workday diversion for ya.

Flash Flash Revolution

Flash Flash RevolutionWhile sitting here this past week playing Frets on Fire it got me thinking about a little flash based rhythm game called Flash Flash Revolution.

In Flash Flash Revolution you hit the arrow keys to the corresponding beat similar to Dance Dance Revolution. They’ve since updated to Flash Flash Revolution R2. It includes a versus mode, new difficulty levels, better backgrounds and more music. Though if you feel like checking out the old school FFR I suggest the funk sections slap guitar 2, it’s a doozie.

Endless Zombie Rampage

Endless Zombie RampageThe wife & I relaxed after our first official Mother’s Day as parents with a little love from Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright, courtesy of their excellent Shaun of the Dead. Of course, a film wherein a son has to shoot his own zombified mom probably shouldn’t qualify as appropriate fare for the holiday, but that’s why I love her.

To commemorate the occasion here’s a wonderful mash-up of the Defend the Castle and Zombie genres entitled Endless Zombie Rampage.

All the games you love to play… Online!

Well, no not really, but they do have a lot of great games. They have the great board games like Monopoly, Scrabble, and Battleship that you used to play at yo’ mommas house. Course’ they have Atari classics like Asteroids, Centipede, and (last but not least) Missile Command that game where you can blow up planets for hours on end. Some of the games are even multi-player.

You have to register to play, but its no big deal. So, go to the Official Atari flash game site now, and check it out!

Sea of Fire

seaoffire.jpgI’ve always liked Command & Conquer style games, but the sad truth is that I’m just not very good at them. The only micromanage sim I’ve ever really been any good at is the wonderful (and much missed) Dungeon Keeper series. However, that doesn’t stop me from firing up the C&C and getting my ass kicked every now and again.

In that spirit, you should give the sweet little Sea of Fire a spin, as it’s a vastly stripped down C&C style game that pits your resource hoarding and building skills against a vicious enemy.

Wii Wish List - Super Mario Galaxy

Anyone that knows me has to know that I am a huge fan of Nintendo. I was super excited when the Wii, then revolution, was announced and what better way to show my excitement then to list some of the most anticipated games.

First up we have Super Mario Galaxy. I absolutely drooled when I saw this game footage. This is, in my opinion, the first game to really show what the Wii is capable of, and with the new control style of the wiimote I am really curious how the controls will work.

Bible Fight!

Bible Fight on Adult SwimLeave it to Adult Swim to turn in that game that seems custom designed to piss off Jack Thompson. Take a few minutes and lay down some old skool 2D fighting action with Bible Fight, in which you throw down against the heavyweights of the Testament class.

The graphics look amazing in this little punch-out beauty, even if the specials are a bit tricky to pull off.

Spider-Man 3 Wii Review

So… Spiderman 3….

Spider-Man 3Well, I just finished the campaign for the Wii version. All in all, the game is fun to play, and the swinging is great, I just wish they’d had at least a few more months of development. I didn’t run into any game-crashing bugs (I imagine that’s why the game loads after every mission) but overall, the game is just glitchy and buggy. Nothing earth-shattering, but textures shifting around during cutscenes (cutscenes in general were just bad), random voices from NPCs (which at times is hilarious), and I still groan whenever I have to do one of the ‘help the cops fight the bad guys’ missions, which most of the time reduces character animation down to a 4th grader’s stop-motion project.

The missions are hardly varied, almost every mission amounts to ‘go to point a, beat some guys up/pick up object/throw bomb, go to point b, etc. I didn’t run into any kind of ‘road rage’ or ‘lost balloon’ type missions, the closest being ‘transport reporter two blocks down the road for no reason’ or ‘rescue the Caucasian boy’ (my friends and I had a good laugh at this).

Frets on Fire

Today .alphamonkey. over at Transbuddha made a post about Frets on Fire and i wanted to talk a little more about it. First: it just plain kicks ass.

fretsonfire4.jpgIf that’s not enough, Frets on Fire is also open source with a very large and enthusiastic community dedicated to making it the best game possible. You can head over to Keyboardsonfire.net to get even more songs, browse around at mods, or just learn some tricks of the trade.

If you have the Guitar Hero 1 or 2 DVD’s you can import all the music into it, not to mention (possibly one of my favorite things about Frets on Fire) is that you can take your Xbox Guitar Hero controller and hook it up to the PC via the USB connector and rock out that way.

In Hapland, The game plays you.

My postings for today are not for the weak at heart. They will make shout, scream, and maybe get a little stabby.

haplandThe Hapland series are puzzle games in which you control little stick-men trying to open up a portal (and most of the time lead them to their death) by correctly manipulating the environment in a predetermined sequence.

These games are a perfect reason why the English should not be allowed to have computers.
Hapland 1.
Hapland 2
Hapland 3

You should most definitely check out this guy’s website: he made all three Hapland games, plus a few other flash based games. foon.co.uk
